Hello world. The following was written 8/27/2018.
I watched a video of a comedian sharing their thoughts on an article they had read about participation trophies. They also shared their belief as to what sports are for and how the object of the game is to win. You can’t always win. Yet, you have to go into it believing you will. They then shared how they want to see their children cause another to cry when they loose a game. I found myself responding to them with the following.
My response, “Something to consider, everything we experience is for our benefit. There are no good, bad, right, wrong, win or lose if everything is of benefit to you. Each experience has lessons within them you are to learn. Part of this learning is to discern how you are the one in judgment of what is being experienced by you and YOUR children. You judge what they experience as you would judge yourself and your own.
We are taught to blindly follow and believe what our families have chosen to believe. We are taught we are to conform to their beliefs if we are to be accepted and approved of. When we do not conform we are faced with judgments, recriminations and punishments. In this same way we are trained to conform to the dictates of society. If and when we do not conform we are punished.
We do to our children what has been done to us unknowingly. Our families were indoctrinated to think, believe and perceive as they do. Being taught they are to blindly accept, follow and believe anyone who states they are the authority. This is what we teach our children to do unknowingly.
Everything is taught on a subliminal psychological level. Consider teaching your children to listen to hear and not respond. Teach them to contemplate what was heard. Consider teaching them to ask questions of themselves, YOU and anyone who would state they are the authority or are told is an authority. This belief in anyone as being an authority is an illusion you have been indoctrinated into believing. You teach this to your children without awareness you do so. I can go deeper into this, yet am told this is enough to have you diving deeply into your own mentality of awareness or lack there of.
There is one more thing to consider here. The object of the game is not to compete with others. The object of the game is to better yourself by honing your own skills on a personal level. The object of the game is to learn how to work as a team with one mind, one body and one response to achieve a goal which would be for the betterment of all and not just the self.
What would be an excellent view to take when watching two teams play a game with each other, is to cheer on both teams. Encourage both teams on their struggle to work together as one unit with one goal to achieve in the game they play in those moments. In changing your perspective on how you are viewing a situation you can change the way you perceive it and so judge it to be for you. When you teach this way of thinking and perceiving to your children they begin to see everyone as their equal in all ways. Including you their parent, for you do the best you can do with what has been taught to you until you choose to question what you were taught yourself.”
Blessings on your journeys my brothers. Hugs and love. You are loved. I love you.
